The last post was about an image that created itself. It came from the space inside me that I am learning to recognise, I simply have to get out of my own way and trust myself to photograph without overthinking what I am doing. I love it when I photograph this way. There is a real sense of magic, excitement and anticipation in the process. This time I had been reflecting on the adage, as above so below. It refers to the idea that the world is an independent whole, a web in which no strand is autonomous. Mind and body, galaxy and atom, sensation and stimulus, are all intimately bound. It is a belief that all things are independent and interrelated. This concept is sometimes referred to as the microcosm and the macrocosm. The microcosm can be considered as yourself and the macrocosm as the universe. Within each lies the other, and through understanding one (usually yourself) you can understand the other. The more I’ve explored this idea the greater my understanding has become about what I am on this earth for.
